Prohibition

Posted in Social on October 22, 2010 by tattoohero

I have been playing this video game called Red Dead Redemption by Rockstar Games.  This game is set in the last remaining part of the wild west in 1910.  Which is Arizona, which was not a state until 1912 and New Mexico which became a state in 1907 and northern Mexico.  Within this game you can watch movies.  They are silent films like they were back then.

There is one thing I pondered after watching one of the little movies that was brought to the screen by the Temperance movement and the anti-saloon league.  We tired to legalize morality when we put a prohibition on liquor.   We created an Amendment to outlaw booze.  Did that stop people from drinking?  Of course not, it just made it illegal.  Which put liquor in the hands of criminals and it started a HUGE crime spree.  The Depression of the 30’s did not help any when people have no money and no job.
I suppose what I am getting at is this.  Prohibition does not work.  It turn normal people into criminals and it makes the criminals rich.  Same thing is going on now with marijuana.  It is making gangs both in the US and Mexico rich and causing all type of violence.  Telling average people they can NOT do something that can be harmless if the person does not over do it.  Which is true with a lot of things in life.

One segment of the community can not put their morals as laws.  All it does is cause violence in the community because those laws create criminals.

O’Donnell’s Stupidity

One would think their candidates  for any public office knows how to read and can comprehend what they read.  This is not the case this election cycle.  I can not believe the stupidity of some of these candidates.  Christine O’Donnell is jumping right to the top of the list.

This dumbchit does not even know the 1st amendment to the United States Constitution. The 1st!!!!  I could understand the newer ones, but we all been taught the first ten.

Anyone voting for this woman should never be allowed to vote again, because it is plainly obvious they don’t understand basic civics.

Religion and Politics

There are a few things that really piss me off over the years.  One of them is those in politics pushing their religion and want to make laws from those views.  Or just say stupid crap that is just bigoted.  Lets take Senator Jim DeMint-GnOPer from South Carolina that is up for reelection.  Don’t you worry now, DeMint is way ahead in the polls and I doubt very much South Carolina is voting for Greene.   We will still have our favorite bigot in the Senate.

Now, I don’t know if everyone has heard about some of the extremely bigoted comments the spewed forth from DeMint’s lips.  From Huffington Post:

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) attempted to convince pastors that economic issues are moral issues at the Greater Freedom Rally at a church in Spartanburg, South Carolina yesterday, imploring them to help conservatives retake Congress in November.

In addition to reiterating anti-choice talking points on abortion and backing “traditional marriage,” according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, the senator went further and “said if someone is openly homosexual, they shouldn’t be teaching in the classroom and he holds the same position on an unmarried woman who’s sleeping with her boyfriend — she shouldn’t be in the classroom.”

That is the first two paragraphs from the article then it goes into when he spewed this crap back on “Meet The Press” with Tim Russet back in 2004.  Even has a transcript of it.  Interesting read.  I was fuming after reading it actually, but then if this type of thinking always makes me fume.  Why live in the Bronze Age when the rest of the World is in the Information Age?

What goes on in anyone’s bedroom, Mr Doucharoo, is none of your business and it has no place in the classroom either.  If a woman wants to live with her boyfriend and have a children with him, live like a married couple but never bother with that piece of paper.  How is that different from an actual married couple?  I will tell you this, doucharoo, there is no difference.

As far as gays teaching, if they have the education to teach let them.  What goes on in their bedroom is none of your business.   Just like what goes on in your bedroom, or lack there of, is none of their or mine business.  Being gay is normal.  They go to work, pay their taxes, raise their children to be tolerant, love their family.  I thought being a GnOPer was all about families.  Only heterosexual families?

Stop preaching and telling churches they need to be telling their members who to vote for and what issues to care about.  Gays are not hurting you.  You though are hurting others with your bigoted attitude.  You are part of the problem.  Only care about those that agree with you and your set of morals.

I do wonder of DeMint knows this.   Those that complain the loudest are deeply in the closet.

Russ Feingold

I can not believe that Russ Feingold of Wisconsin is behind in the polls.  WTF?  I am in total shock.  Feingold is one of the good guys in the Senate.

He voted NO on the Patriot Act.  No to TARP.  He wants to bring our troops home.  He wants health care for everyone.  He voted NO to Wars too.

But this isn’t good enough.  What the hell is good enough?  If the people of Wisconsin want to get rid of a deadbeat Senator, then please wait until Herb Kohl is up for reelection and vote that bum out, but not Feingold.

If he loses, not only does the State of Wisconsin loses, but the rest of the country.
